As a subconsultant, TranSmart is assisting with the upgrade and maintenance of the Illinois Tollway’s Transportation Information Management System (TIMS). TIMS monitors traffic sensors, cameras, weather stations, construction events, incidents, and communications across the tollway system. As part of the efforts, TranSmart developed an overview video that defined the various operational aspects of TIMS and the roles of various users and stakeholders. A variety of TIMS’ subsystems—including the DMS subsystem, CCTV, traffic queuing, RWIS, and several other areas—were updated and improved.
