Scott Cain, PE Named Chief Civil Engineer

TranSmart has promoted Scott Cain, PE to serve as Chief Civil Engineer where he will continue to grow our Roadway Design group.

Since joining the firm as a civil engineer in 2014, Scott has advanced through various project and office leadership roles where he has consistently demonstrated excellent technical skills, leadership, and client service capabilities.

In his previous TranSmart role as Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager, Scott was actively involved with developing the scope of services for large-scale civil projects and the design of numerous roadway projects throughout the Chicagoland area. He has worked with the Chicago Department of Transportation, the Illinois Department of Transportation, and the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, and has significant knowledge of these governmental agencies’ rules, regulations, and standards. His project management experience includes preparing contracts, schedules, quality plans, and the supervision of project budgets and subconsultants. Past projects include the I-88 Pavement Rehabilitation Project, the Farnsworth Bridge over I-88, and most recently, the $2.1 billion CTA Red and Purple Modernization Design-Build Project for which Scott is serving as TranSmart’s lead Civil Engineer and Project Manager. Scott brings more than 18 years of experience to his new role at TranSmart. His expertise includes roadway geometric design, maintenance of traffic (MOT) planning, barrier warrant analyses, site design, drainage improvements, ADA compliance, traffic signal design, preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates of probable cost (PS&E), and technical reports. Scott’s successful project management and leadership experience, coupled with his wide range of expertise, will further advance TranSmart’s core focus to provide advanced, high-quality, and cost-effective civil engineering solutions to the public and private sector clients that we serve.

Scott is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana with a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering. He is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
