TranSmart provided transportation and project support expertise as part of the Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency (CREATE) Program’s project management team. TranSmart coordinated and performed multiple studies and participated in various transportation planning, programming, and implementation‑related activities including:

• Regional and multimodal transportation analysis

• Rail and transit review

• Travel demand and congestion management

• Environmental impacts evaluation

• Phase II design review

• Forecasting, funding, demographic analysis, land-use, GIS, and policy reviews

• Supporting public involvement

 

The CREATE Program is a public-private, multi-project effort to improve the efficiency of both the passenger and freight rail network in the Chicago region. It involves privately-owned freight railroads, Metra, Amtrak, the American Association of Railroads, the City of Chicago, Illinois Department of Transportation, Cook County, and the Federal Railroad Administration.
