Chicago's Loop Link Bus Rapid Transit
PROJECT BACKGROUND
As a subconsultant, TranSmart provided engineering and construction management services for the design and construction of Chicago’s new “Loop Link” bus rapid transit system. Construction-phase work included: monitoring the construction of eight bus platforms including excavation, PVC conduit installation for electrical and snowmelt system, installation of platform drainage, 28”-thick reinforced concrete-slab pouring, platform canopies, and the installation of vaulted sidewalks with waterproofing membrane. TranSmart was also tasked with resolving site issues, coordinating with the general contractor and subcontractors, preparing IDRs, extra work order reports, and other project documentation.
